AMTP Landing. (video)

Video footage of an Automated Medical Transport Pod landing outside Choklaz Hospital. No official statement has been released, but sources inside the hospital claim the occupant is none other than Senator Arboren, whose delegation went missing ten days ago. We'll keep you updated as the story evolves.

This was a super quick one, all done within a day. I watched The Mandalorian the night before, and thought it was super cool how the water splashed up and reacted to the engines on Din Djarin's ship, so I wanted to try and emulate it a bit.

The particle simulation came first, and took a sizeable amount of tweaking to get sort-of right. I tried using forces to make the particles behave in a sensible, logical way, but instead of getting pushed into the ground, and then flying up, they just pushed into the ground and slid a little bit around the thrust force. Eventually all logic sort of dissappeared from the simulation, and I changed the shape of the force to a tube, and animated it rotating as it went down, to throw them upwards. It's not the worst, but its far from perfect.

I'd like to try it again sometime. It's atleast progress compared to my previous attempts at spaceship landing effects,

The issuewith 366 being the super goofy bouncing billboard particles of course. 285 is better than I remembered it, but I definitely remembered how jerky and awful the ships landing animation was. My computer back then couldn't handle anything close to 24 FPS when previewing an animation in the viewport, every animation was kind of a shot in the dark. The dirt on the lens was a nice touch.

The ship was modeled around the little particle simulation. If it wasn't It probably would have had a drastically different design, than basically just, giant engine with small landing engine and cockpit
